Front Off Job – Day 1

Published by admin under Motoring

IMG_2542.jpg France was costly on the front clam – not only the ‘Top Gear’ episode getting stuck in a Paris car park, but also all the ramps and other road hazards causing other damage too.

With the MoT due next week, I’ve SORN’d the green machine and decided to spend a few months doing her up.  This is day 1 of the exercise : getting the front clam off and gathering the photographic evidence of ’before’ the project.

I’ve already found the source of at least have a dozen rattles. As I followed SELOC’s techWiki on how to take the front clam off, it has become apparent that half the fixings on mine were not even there.

I managed to remove the exceptionally rusty driving light brackets , detaching the lights carefully. The wiring was a bit dodgy but it all worked without any problems - or did until I knocked one off the table when I was moving stuff around the garage to protect the clam.  That’s £45 gone already.

Happy Birthday Steve

Published by admin under Family & Friends

A bit of a strange way to start a new blog, but at least it gives me the opportunity to test out a few core features.

This is the new blog, with the old one remaining on “Gromit”. Gromit is starting to become a little tired – which considering the machines age and just how much it does, is hardly surprising. So I’ve migrated my site back into a hosted server room and onto someone elses infrastructure. The core software has been updated to 2.6.x and the database moved onto a co-located server.

Oh – and as a test, this entire blog entry has been written using an iPhone – complete with a photo being attached and uploaded in a single operation.

Just leaves me to say Happy Birthday to Steve Harrison – 40 yrs old and still ugly as sin.
